At the beginning of January we headed over to the beautiful Soughton Hall to work with Sarah & James on what was a fantastically unique and personal wedding.
We were excited to work with Sarah & James from their first email, telling us how they are also known as Fox & Bear (though in their case Sarah is Sarah-Bear and James is the Fox due to being a fiery red-head). Added to the fact that they are both super-nerds, this was a wedding we’ve been excited about.
The Planning
Sarah & James instantly bonded over good beer, board games and sci-fi TV. Introduced by a mutual friend, they’ve been inseparable ever since.
Everything in this wedding was geared towards Sarah & James showcasing themselves as a couple. We love it when our couples pick and choose the elements of a wedding that really mean something to them. A classic house- check, 3D printed space ships as table decorations- check, Scottish kilts and bagpipes- check. The whole day reflected Sarah & James, their hobbies, their personalities, and that just made it such a special occasion to be a part of.
Soughton Hall Wedding Photos from a North Wales Photographer
Located just down the road from us in Denbigh North Wales, Soughton Hall is a stunning location. Out of view of the road, a long driveway reveals this incredible manor house. Manicured gardens sit alongside hidden nooks and crannies which provide the most beautiful, intimate backdrop for a photographer to work at. They were go good at looking after Sarah & James bringing canapés out for some mid shoot snack for us all!
The Details
We are huge advocates for doing your wedding your way. Make your wedding reflect who you are as a couple. Sarah & James’s wedding really could be a ‘how to’ in achieving this. Homemade chutney as party favours, lego bricks to sign and the aforementioned 3d printed space-ships (did I mention these were hand painted by Sarah?) are to name just a few of the personal touches these guys built into their wedding. And on the day, Sarah & James were so cool, and so relaxed. Their aim from the beginning was to marry each other and have fun doing it. We think they achieved that.
