So one thing that this year has allowed us, is a little more time. Time to look at things like our website and blog. Our past attitude to our blog was to post as and when we can. But with some extra time on our hands, we put some more structure in place and decided to set ourselves the challenge to post once a week. It’s been really fun to keep up the momentum and share all this work that we’re so proud of.
So, talking of being proud of our work, we present to you, the amazing wedding of Lucy and Dan, one of our absolute favourite weddings. Set in the beautiful and very quirky Trevor Hall in Llangollen, it’s a real gem.
Photos with friends
One thing you may have heard from us before, and if you’ve worked with us you’ll have definitely have heard from us, is that we consider our couples to be just a part of our extended friendship group. Not so much clients, and not so much ‘work’ but a chance to meet up with friends and take some awesome photos. I knew when I first met with Lucy & Dan that we’d get on really well. Both outdoorsy, beer drinking, pub-loving cool kids who just love each other.
The coolest venue
I’d never been to Trevor Hall before. Its not a venue we had even heard of before Lucy and Dan introduced it to us. It sounded like the most awesome spot for a wedding venue. Classic house, lovely gardens, haunted rooms, walls covered in music memorabilia (the previous owner was a music producer for the likes of Steps and the Prodigy). Oh and of course a Darlek in the bathroom. The venue also has the most beautiful greenhouse. It’s just so…cool. Plus, you get free reign of the building Wednesday through to Sunday, making it a perfect venue for a fun filled wedding. We’ve got two more weddings coming up later this year in Trevor Hall and we’re so excited to be back.
What’s the best time for photos?
On occasion we get couples asking about when they should make time for photos. Usually around sunset is ideal, but it’s not always possible with the timings of some weddings, or if the weather decides to work against us. We very much believe in being entirely flexible when it comes to our work, to avoid any unnecessary stress for our couples. We are happy to see where the day takes us if that is what you would prefer. When it came to Lucy & Dan’s day, they were happy to pop out for multiple short sessions, 5m here, 5m there. It allowed us to break up the day, explore different areas of the grounds and take our time with the photos. No pressure. It also gave Lucy & Dan the perfect opportunity to take some short breaks, to enjoy some brief moments with each other, enjoying the fact that they just got married.
Personal touches
Trevor Hall is hugely eclectic, and the perfect venue for tonnes of personal touches which is what Lucy & Dan brought. Pub style quiz books on each table to keep their guests busy during dinner, handmade signs, handmade favours and personalised playlists. This wedding was a true reflection of Lucy & Dan. One of the best parts of the day included Dan’s best man doing a live set with the band The Dandylions. Who doesn’t love a bit of live music.
