So a few weeks back we blogged one of our winter engagement sessions from the cold winter months of early 2019. Fast forward through our busiest summer ever and you get to autumn 2019 and the beautiful wedding of Alice & Dan.
Kindred spirits
So we mentioned in the last post that these two, like Dewi, are very much into all things geekery, and we love that they incorporated this into their wedding. Alice actually gets to play with lego for a living, teaching robotics and STEM! Check out the board game table placements and the AMAZING wedding cake from Emmazing Bakes full of video game themes. As a nod to their love of science, the favours even included colour changing gin. Love it!
Autumn leaves, and flower crowns
Alice & Dan wanted their wedding to be cosy and autumnal, lit fires, candles, leaves and beautiful florals. Alice had a beautiful autumnal flower crown, showing that flower crowns are not exclusively a summer thing. We have a few suppliers who we will always recommend when folk ask us for recommendations. Luna Flower is always on the list of florists. And it’s so easy to see why. We’re absolutely in love with Alice’s flower crown and bouquet… and the boutonnières for the guys… and the florals for the ceremony and tables. Just all of it. It’s all awesome.
Fun, warm and not too serious
This is what Alice told us had been some of main priorities for the day. They absolutely fell in love with Chateau Rhianfa and didn’t want to distract from the building by adding too much decoration. A place like Chateau Rhianfa speaks for itself, and they only wanted to add things that were going to enhance the surroundings, and for Alice and Dan, this meant good food, good company, and good music.
Bringing everything together
Each feature, personal touch, guest, venue, it all adds up to a beautiful wedding that is Alice and Dan through and through. A wedding should always reflect the couple and these guys could have written the book about how to achieve this.
How to personalise traditions
The wedding industry is a fast moving and ever pressuring beast. Just a quick search on Pinterest can quickly become so overwhelming. We remember this from our own wedding. The difficultly of trying to figure out what we wanted from our day, whilst also competing with tradition.
Alice and Dan really do show how it should be done. They looked at each wedding tradition and considered ‘how does we make this ‘us’?’ The beauty of it is that you can literally do whatever you want. You can incorporate tradition or throw it out of the window. These guys pulled in so many different wedding traditions; bridal party, cake, first dance, wedding dress and then made each of them their own. Alice’s advise for other couples planning their wedding- ‘you do you’.
