A Scottish elopement road trip wedding in Gretna Green and the Lake District
Earlier this year we had the pleasure of capturing Laura & Mark’s road trip wedding. Currently living in North Wales, Laura & Mark decided to head to Gretna Green to elope in the Famous Blacksmiths Shop.
After a long 8 year engagement, this adventurous couple grabbed their nearest and dearest and headed for Gretna Green. Steeped in tradition, the Famous Blacksmiths Shop has lots of quirky features and plenty of nooks and crannies.
When planning their photo session they told us about their idea of driving through the Lake District on their way back down from Scotland and stopping at some of the amazing vistas. The Lakes hold a lot of sentiment for us at Fox & Bear (it’s where we got engaged!) so it was great to head back there to celebrate Laura & Mark’s wedding, surrounded by the breathtaking scenery. So, after the wedding and a quick car sandwich, we started off on our photo road trip.
Prior to the wedding, Laura & Mark had emailed to firm up arrangements for their day. When we received an email containing the words; we are willing to jump fences and stand in muck to get the best pics, we just knew we were working with the best couple! Fortunately there was no need for standing in the muck!
As the mist set in, Laura donned her wellies and off we went. Private beaches, jetties, stone bridges, and country stiles. We even managed to get their son Logan involved for a few of the photos. Such an amazing day with amazing people.
