Gellidara, Penrhos wedding – Mari and Gwyn
Back last July we headed over to Caernarfon for Mari and Gwyn’s rustic wedding. We’d been chatting to them on the lead up to the day and were so looking forward to what they promised would be a very chilled out wedding day full of their family and friends.
Choosing where to get married was one of the easiest decisions for Mari and Gwyn. Mari had always known she would hold her wedding ceremony at St Helen’s Church, a beautiful stone village church up the road from her parent’s house, it was where her gran got married and plays a very special part in their family history.
As for their reception venue, it had to be Gwyn’s family barn. There was no question about it.
Rustic, boho wedding photography
Both Mari and Gwyn love the countryside. Gwyn proposed during a night in the Lake District. During a stroll around Lake Windermere they stumbled upon the perfect spot and Gwyn popped the question. As their journey to this wedding started with them surrounded by greenery, hills and woodland they knew that they wanted to continue that theme into their wedding day.
The barn looked incredible. A wooden backdrop displayed framed pictures taken throughout Mari and Gwyn’s relationship (we particularly loved the light up ‘cariad’ sign, definitely something we need in our house!) while the tables were decorated with foliage and log slices. Nice and simple but so effective. Wooden pallet boxes and vintage suitcases were dotted around the space adding to the DIY, bohemian feeling that they loved.
Golden hour wedding portraits
If you’ve ever been married, or are currently planning your wedding, you’ll probably have heard your wedding photographer talking about ‘golden hour’. That magical light that can occur around sunset. We love it and will always encourage our couples to join us for a few portraits at that point in the day. Luckily for us Mari and Gwyn were keen to get some pictures together during this time and we made our way into a nearby field to make the most of that incredible light. We’re not always lucky enough to get a golden hour but when we do we really want to make the most of it for our couples. So if we dash up to you during a break in courses, or straight after speeches and beg for you to come outside for five minutes there’s a reason for it!
