Ystrad Farm Weddings – Styled Wedding Shoot
We love meeting up with fellow wedding suppliers, chatting about the industry and generally making friends with people who work in the same business as us. Recently we were lucky enough to meet the owners of a new venue on Bala Lake, called Ystrad Farm Weddings.
After holding their own wedding on the farm, Ceri and Jane realised that their family run sheep farm was actually a pretty awesome wedding venue. The surroundings are stunning, there’s plenty of space and they knew that after planning their day, they were well versed in what makes an amazing wedding!
Back in the summer we met up with Jane who with her husband Ceri and brother Clwyd have been busy converting the barn into a full time wedding venue. We were so excited to chat about her plans and hopes for the future. We fell in the love with her enthusiasm for the venue and everything we were hearing sounded fantastic. We couldn’t wait to see the finished product!
Luckily we didn’t have to wait long at all, just a few months later we were back at Ystrad Farm for their launch day and a mini styled shoot.
Rustic wedding styled shoot
When we arrived we were greeted very enthusiastically by the friendly farm dogs, always the best way to start a shoot in our opinion!
Inside the barn a mini supplier gathering was taking place. Local wedding businesses had set up stands and were chatting away to couples about their offerings. We couldn’t resist trying a few cakes from the Micro Cakery, they tasted fab and definitely got our seal of approval! The Micro Cakery also provided the incredible wedding cake for our styled shoot- simple, elegant with a slightly rustic finish.
Jade Leung had, as always, done an amazing styling job, setting up the rustic wooden tables with vintage place settings and touches of pink and gold. To finish the look the table was adorned with country flowers and greenery from Ivy Pip & Rose. The simple aesthetic looked perfect against the fairy lights and cotton drapes that decorated the walls of the barn. We’re also big fans of the light up “C&J” sign that hung above the table. Jane was right when she told us that Ceri and Clwyd could turn their hands to make just about anything that a couple could imagine. Those boys have got excellent DIY skills!
Bala Lake wedding portraits
Our ‘model’ bride and groom for the day were real life couple Ruth and Liam. Ruth looked beautiful in a dress by The Silk Loft and Liam wore an awesome suit supplied by Trefor Jones. Ruth’s stunning bouquet was supplied by Ivy Pip & Rose.
We started off with a few portraits in the barn before heading outside to a, well a frankly awe inspiring avenue of tall trees. This is very much our kind of location. With our fab looking couple we decided to make the most of the landscape, heading over to a hill overlooking Bala Lake. With views like that we guarantee that Ystrad Farm is going to quickly become one of the area’s most popular venues!

One of our highlights from the day was getting to meet and work alongside the awesome videographer (and fellow Dewi), Dewi Fôn Evans. Check out the excellent video he captured, showcasing the venue and launch day.
